Many of us have been very grateful for the existence of projects like Google Books and Project Gutenberg which allows on screen access to many rare books which would otherwise be unobtainable.
I thought members might like to know that Project Gutenberg is appealing for volunteers to help with proof reading. The requirement is to read only one page, which is then passed to another volunteer for further checks. Each individual task will not be very arduous, but the cumulative benefit to scholars and general readers would be enormous.
If anyone is interested, here is the link: scroll down to the 'Volunteers' section.
